Since no one knows about this

Except for someone who reads one of the FF.net stories, follows the link, and comes here, I figure this is a pretty safe place to babble about the 100,000 plus words I've written since Jan.

The
last two pieces of The Stone Gryphon Part 1 Oxfordshire 1942 went up, including the excerpt of The Queen Susan In Tashbaan.

I hit over 100 reviews and am just tickled beyond all imagining about that.

The piece that went up today is one of the very oldest ideas I had, Peter receiving the telegram, Mary and Asim taking him to the train station, stealing the telegram, and Mary trying to equip Peter with appropriate supplies while babbling about long steamer and train rides to nowhere looking for reptiles and Yetis.  The reveal that Asim sees God-touched people, disclosed in the last chapter was supposed to be here, with Mary asking whether Peter still glows like a bloody torch.  But, I couldn't do a chapter from his point of view without disclosing the fact that he is God-touched himself.  I was going to say, "Muslim saint" but I really don't want to do violence to Islam or saints, so, anyway, we'll just call it God touched and leave it at that.

I wanted to be clear that it's not just Narnians who glow in the dark, but I'll probably need to make the point again when I get back to his point of view.  Eventually.

I wanted to get in something about the Raid on Dieppe.  It was in the papers on Aug. 19 and so the timing is about right.  I don't know when Brit schools start, other than Hogwarts on Sept. 1.  Dieppe is a sort of Canadian Gallipoli.  I thought there would be some good angst about colonials and commonwealth citizens being offered up as sacrificial lambs in the British armed forces.  It's something Asim would care about, and it was simply a major screw up.  Bad planning, bad training, bad leadership, bad intelligence, bad luck, the complete converse of everything that Asim observes Peter is accustomed to in his command.

That paper Digory picks up originally had a Dieppe headline, but the overal tone of the chapter is more Wonderland than War, and I thought it too stark a contrast, so cut it and started over.

I may use that in Susan's story, as Intrepid is a Canadian.

Oh, I've been on LJ for years. Somewhere else, with my other fandoms. I met a bunch of imaginary friends in 1995 and later when I first starting writing fan fic. But, they don't know that I'm back in another universe writing again. So, I won't be cross posting or anything. Shhhh. It's a secret.

Ahahaha. I have a normal one, but that too is a secret. I'm still in the fandom closet. So it goes...
