perish the thought of the teal deer here. Yeah, right. It's all fem-splain in the best possible way over here. You have beautifully encapsulated my own thoughts on Sue -- that she is a product of immature writing and wish fulfillment and that more than anything, the writer becomes so enamored of her construct that she imbues her with all the everything. As Pflieger writes, you can't miss her because you keep tripping over her. And that's the problem that I have with the Sue lists and the Sue criticisms is that I don't think they go to the heart of the issue -- which is constructing a character who makes sense within the narrative, who enhances the original work and canon characters and doesn't suck all the air out of the room. I liked the analyses of Wesley Crusher -- that he can solve every problem, thereby rendering everyone else superfluous.
