An Inordinate Fondness For Beetles
and yes, I am working on Harold and Morgan. The Lone Islands story arc is HARD and really just much ado about dialogue since I've been trying to strip most of the plot out. So I sit and stare at things like the following and wonder if I should just chuck it all and write the end or meander my way through a story.
The Meryl Director gathered a blue-bound ledger from the table and stuffed it into her own satchel. “Thank you for agreeing to increase Linch’s share of the tribute to Narnia. Perhaps the addition will keep them out of our business a while longer.”
“Unlikely,” Linch said with a resigned humph. “We will not hold Narnia back forever. I think Florian will be gone by summer.”
“If you had kept Morgan from going there…” she began, then waved a hand and corrected herself. “Oh, never mind. Linch is certainly to be congratulated for Morgan seeing the opportunity in Narnia before the rest of us did.”
“And as we profit, so do you, my sister. Eventually.”
Meryl adjusted her satchel and Linch helped her into a heavy cloak. “My concerns with Narnia remain,” she said.
Edmund tried to pretend that he was not listening avidly. Sallowpad cocked his head to the side, attending as carefully.
“It and her rulers are very young. And with no proven stability, of course. Ten years will not undo the two hundred that preceded it.”
“You are impossible to please,” Linch retorted gruffly. “You want stability in Narnia before investing, but expect things to stay as they have here?”
Edmund realized that this was the sort of conversation he could envision with his own siblings and felt another uncomfortable pang of longing for home.
“I’m always cautious about start ups and so are you and Morgan is the only reason we are there at all.”
“So it is we again, Meryl.”
“Eventually,” Director Meryl replied, proving to Edmund she could deliver rejoinders as well as receive them. She paused at the door. “I shall be presenting the new numbers to the Governor on behalf of the Bankers tomorrow. Do you wish to come?”
“Making love to politicians has always been Stanleh’s role. And yours.” Linch held the door open for her.

If you want to write the end then do so, but I'm happy with anything :) *sends magic tea to help the Muse sort its life out*

just few words
(Anonymous) 2011-05-01 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)I remember I promised to write sth more, but at the moment I have even less time then I absolutely need to do what I have to do, so at least till Wednesday I won't be able to fulfill my promise.
But, as you're writing new chapters right now, I just wanted to ensure you (I remember some remarks you've made which suggest that you're not that certain about that) that there are some people who really care about politics and - as a result - problems with taxation on Lone Islands. Therefore, it is expected that you'll keep to this subject, not - abandon that in favour of male-female relations.
A fragment shown above suggest that you are doing that indeed. If it's true (i.e. it's not the only part connected with the subject) - then I am very glad.
Best,
Krystyna

And I completely agree with Autumnia! There would have to be mention of Harold in the books of the banking house - and what an interesting tale that would be for Caspian to learn about (although, knowing Edmund, he would never breathe a word about Morgan).
