Being king was new to Rilian, he who had only distant memories of being a prince, and just as distant memories of his father. He was going in quite blind to the whole business, with most of his knowledge about ruling coming from the records he could find from his father and previous kings’ rule, as well as anecdotes from his Telmarine subjects. He thinks in the end he did alright – but he never does manage to capture the Talking Beasts’ loyalty like his father had managed to.
