Mrs Brown was shopping in the supermarket, and had taken Judy and Paddington with her and even allowed Paddington to carry his own basket. Which was why when she turned round to discover Paddington had disappeared, Judy had a very good idea where they would find him. She was right: he had found the shelves displaying marmalade and was busy filling his basket with all the different sorts.
