What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is an open exchange where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and fill as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You can start 3SF by posting prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please. So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

Open ended and anthropomorphic fills are popular too, such as:

Any, Any, "I don't like sand."

or

Earth geography, sand, "I don't like humans very much, either."

What happens after that?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged! (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences? Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

I'm really overwhelmed by all the prompts and how much there is and how fast it goes. I can't read 1,000 prompts and fills. It's too much.
I hear this a lot and it keeps a lot of people from participating. The 3SF is big and it moves fast, especially at first. I get overwhelmed, too, and I'm hosting the thing. With 2020 and 2021 sucking so badly you don't want something that's supposed to be fun cause you anxiety. I have a couple of suggestions for managing the 3SF volume.

First, really, you don't have to read every prompt and fill on every page. You can start at the last page of this and just go forward, or back a page or two. It's fine.
You can come and go as time and energy allow, you don't have to participate the whole time, and it drops off quite a bit by mid-February.
Even after the 3SF and new prompting end, people fill prompts all year long.
You can fill an already filled prompt and you can can leave a prompt that's already been prompted before. People do it all the time.

Always make sure you're looking at top-level comments only, not threaded. That helps a lot. Your screen should look like this.

But shouldn't I read everything to see if someone already prompted the same prompt I want to leave if someone already filled it?
No. Prompt as many times as you want, as much as you want. It doesn't matter if someone prompted the exact same prompt. Go ahead and prompt again!

I left a prompt and no one filled it. Can I prompt it again?
Absolutely!

Can I spread the word?
Yes, please. I generally fail at creating banners and embed codes but if you create one and make it really idiot-proof, I might be able to post and share it. Feel free to cross-post this entry. If you create your own banners or icons, let me know and I'll share!
Please share the 3SF with your followers, friends, and any channels and comms you are active on. I'll post on fandom calendar, Tumblr, and Twitter, but I don't have many connections in other spaces such as Discord.

How long will it go?
The 3SF closes to new prompts on February 28, 2021. The entry stays open permanently and people post fills all year long.

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content and archive warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?

I thought a lot about this. It boils down to reader beware. In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings to even apply. It is too big for me to moderate in this way. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and the responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. This means AO3 content warnings for dubcon, violence, canon character death, underage, etc. COULD be present. I've found personally that I can skim and scroll by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing. In this format, the obligation is on you, the reader, to protect yourself from triggering content.
Some posters do include warnings and spoiler tags in subject lines or include spoiler space, but they don't have to do so.

Why is 3SF split among several posts? That seems confusing.
It is confusing and we always lose momentum once we have to move to a second post. The reason is because at 5,000 comments to a single post, DW installs a human test CAPTCHA, which is a pain for users. So, once this entry gets to the upper 4,000 comments, I open a new post. If you've been waiting until things slow down to participate, when we open a second post is often a good place to join.

Thank you so much! I think Persephone's scarier side owes more to her mother than, perhaps, most would like to consider . . . even after Demeter froze the world in her rage and grief. And Demeter might not like to admit it, but I bet she's well aware of how her daughter grew up to be like this.

When Sokka told everyone that he thought he might be dating Zuko, they all gave strange looks and said they knew that already.

When Zuko came to them and said the same thing a week later, he could only storm away in confused anger at their curious laughter.

When they finally got around to telling each other two weeks after that, there was a lot of relief and kissing involved.

I've finally watched iron fist and came back to say that this is extremely heart-warming, ow ward!

"To the wasteland of reality," Harry rumbled as he tapped Kim's just-lit cigarette with his own yet-unlit one in something resembling a toast, and they both leaned back against the Kineema, parked under the wheeling stars of a late summer night in outer Jamrock.

Kim's comment on this was interrupted as a long neck dipped before his startled gaze and delicate ungulate lips plucked his lit cigarette right out of his hand; the animal turned soulful eyes toward him as it chewed and swallowed the cigarette without compunction for the lit end, then swiveled hopefully toward Harry, already backing away, and he drily said instead, "Detective, I feel that perhaps a wasteland would be less full of roving wildlife," as he watched Harry make efforts to lure the pest away.

That had been his one and only cigarette and so much for a quiet summer evening with the all too firm realities of Jamrock life all round them, but his ruminations and the ruminant were dispelled by a firm shooing and, evidently, a brief but successful internal struggle as Harry's face went through all its usual contortions, then handed Kim Harry's own, somehow-protected and pristine cigarette without further comment and settled back against the Kineema; he thought in that moment that Harry would agree that a reality that was quite crowded and quite a bit more full than Kim had ever previously requested from his life was worth the occasional giraffe, although perhaps their next date should be in the only-slightly-more reputable confines of Kim's favorite pizza place instead...

I'll pay back this addition to the pizza agenda in giraffes soon enough, I promise X°D I love thiiiiiiiiis! just. chomp. The matter-of-factness of it all. That toast at the beginning and Harry gallantly foregoing his one... PLEASE. And above all: the giraffe. Perfect

Tobirama waits until they’re in bed together and then he holds out the very same book Kakuzu had been looking through days earlier when they had stepped into a bookshop but had left empty handed as neither of them had money at the time. Surprised, Kakuzu takes it with a quiet thank you and a ‘you shouldn’t have,’ that gets returned with a huff and a bit of an eye roll.

It’s not long before Kakuzu is sitting comfortably between Tobirama’s legs and reading out loud as Tobirama brushes out his still damp hair; his reading pauses here and there as he hums or sighs with eyes closed as he enjoys the pleasant sensation of fingers against his scalp and the gentle tugging and pulling on his hair.

The second bronze of the evening gets an appreciative murmur and a handful of openly pleased comments as he spills out of his shell, though there's a fair amount of scattered laughter as well - making an entrance via a full somersault, nose over tail, before being able to right oneself will do that. He's warmly rusty in coloration, tinged with hints of deepest almost orange, and one of the assistant weyrlingmasters makes reference to some of the very latest, last autumn-growing ornamental flowers up in Benden and Lemos turning those shades, but then that same assistant has to smother a chortle. Three startled, wary Holdbred girls standing together are sniffed around before the bronze moves on to a clump of boys, briefly considers the first, then nudges the second (a short, broad-shouldered and brown-skinned young man found among the crop tenders at Sadrid Hold) gently in the knees.

Tobirama yawned, eyes falling to half mast, and he slumped down to curl up into a little ball at the base of a tree.

“What are you doing, Tobi?” Mura asked, tumbling over himself through the same patch of catnip and biting at his own paws and tail in his overexcitement; blearily, Tobirama wondered how he had the breath to get it all out in one sentence.

“Catnip - “ Tobirama broke off with another yawn - “catnip has a different effect on humans… mm, wake me in an hour…”

for those who don't know, catnip has a mild sedative effect on humans. :)

Tobirama’s summoning contract had never been normal; how could it be, when the snow leopards went hunting for their own summoners, rather than letting the contract be passed down along family lines like most other summons?

Still, how could he have expected to hear, “You don’t have a mother anymore? Oh, kitten, here, I’ll teach you what you need to know; I’ve watched enough human summoners that I can promise you, you’ll be in good paws.”

At least two candidates startle visibly when a small, yellow-speckled black egg splits into ragged halves and sends its occupant sprawling in the sand; not that the shell wasn't expected to break open, but the resulting hatchling is larger, bulkier and, by the handful of uncertain looks being cast her way, more imposing than some expected. She's dark, undeniably green, a being of inexorable currents and ocean depths, treacherous undertows and glimpses of elusive daylight far above, and given that she hisses, albeit fairly mildly, at the first group of hopefuls she passes once she gains her feet, it's no wonder some are wary. In the end, she walks across half the sands before abruptly finding her person and executing an unskilled but purposeful right angle turn; the brown-haired, freckle-faced fisherfolk boy from Tillek Sea Hold was the one making come-over-here gestures at the around the chimney brown, but the perilous tides green needs no such lure and, judging by his dazed but increasingly happy expression, all thoughts of browns have fled the lad's head anyway.

Julia is used to the slight thump of feet landing on the small roof above her apartment balcony by now: in a second and a swish of red cape, Carmen will jump down to talk about her latest endeavors; or on the less hectic days, when she’s not chasing society’s less favorable citizens around the world, she and Julia simply talk about anything.

“I have a door, you know,” Julia says as Carmen gracefully slides off the roof and smirks at her.

“Where’s the fun in that?”

(btw sorry if any of this is inaccurate it’s been ages since I’ve watched this show)

It bothers you, that she’s currently a middle-aged man, but more so that it doesn’t stop the flutter of your heart when she quirks a brow at your performance and nods, “I think you’ve mastered the art of flirting.”

She puts her hand on your arm, fake-wipes away tears with her other; jokes, “They grow up so fast”, and you wonder how you never noticed her at school, this enigmatic soul.

Later, after that awful game console is crushed to pieces and gone for sure, she puts her hand on your arm again, and you can feel heat blooming where your skin makes contact with hers. “Martha—- we should hang out sometime.”
