[Note: I'm making the assumption here that Mary Read is a woman who just prefers to wear men's clothes and goes by Mark because it's safer, and she is not a trans man. Obviously that's up for debate.]

Three sets of eyes are looking at him expectantly, and how did he end up in this place, in thrall to three women, none of whom have any interest in sleeping with him?

"They don't let men in, and we need a fourth set of hands," Max says, smacking Mary's hand where it's tugging at the waist of her dress; neither Mary nor Anne could look any more uncomfortable than they do, but he knows better than to make any snide comments (all three of these women are terribly dangerous in their own way).

Jack sighs, and when they're done with him, razor and dress, corset and wig, sun spectacles left on the dresser, Anne cocks her head to the side and says, "You make a prettier lady than Mary," and he knows the jokes will never end.
