Certainly Elodie had to have some idea of what her ex-husband was up to, with him being the most powerful noble in a neighboring country, but she didn't have to hear about how he doted on his new baby, or how he made the new wife that was able to give him the child he so wanted smile with so many gifts. It made her memories of him, back when he would make her smile, taste as bitter as the many herbs that she took over the years, the both of them hoping against hope they could reverse the damage done to her womb.
Sometimes, though, when she sat alone with her thoughts under the sacred grove, she found that she couldn't remember why he ever made her smile, a thought that was sometimes comforting and sometimes depressing.
