Buffy, oh wow, yeah that's definitely one of the crazy ex fandoms. Whooo-ee, so crazy. And you wouldn't have thought, at the start, that you were signing up for a guided tour of Joss Whedon's scary id, but yeah.

I loved Buffy. I really did. I watched it with my spousal unit and my spawn has enjoyed parts of it, too. But we kinda broke up over Nerds of Doom and now, it's really hard to fully enjoy it knowing what I do about, errr, Whedon's id as you put it and the abuse of some of the actors. And, well, it's like Harry Potter, too, a little bit, or how I feel about OSC and Ender's Game or MZB's Mists of Avalon. This could also be subtitled, "when your favs (and/or their creators) are problematic."

Speaking as a Buffy addict of yore, I totally get where you're coming from with that one. Actually, you chose several of the same fandoms that I would've done for the same lover descriptions as I would've done (Star Wars EU, P&P, Supernatural) but Leverage is in the wrong spot for me. Used to be my 'steady' so I completely understand your crush ;)

It's fun, isn't it? Such a good meme. Something I've observed elsewhere is how Good Omens is the shiny new toy and hot plaything so it's showing up on lots of lists. I found the book too cynical for enjoyment and the first episode captured that uncomfortable feeling too well. But BUT BUT I am thrilled that so many are having such a wonderful wonderful time with it. I'm loving the fic, art, and meta.

Oh man, there are so many things about so many creators that I kind of half-wish I could un-know so I wouldn't have this constant nagging undertone of "um..." when I revisit their work. :(

I've not re-read Mists of Avalon -- that one was HUGE. One of the most influential books of my life. My feminism dates from it, in significant part, I think. And just UGH.

You need to work on that! I've loved the Expanse. Miss Fisher Murder Mysteries are fun. And the fandom activity around Good Omens has been fantastic.

The Good Omens adaptation really comes into its own in the second episode, and they added a bunch of "Crowley and Aziraphael Show Up At [Bible Story/Historical Event]" scenes that very much worked for me. I've always loved the book; "cynical" is my favorite flavor, after all. But I think this is the rare adaptation that improves upon beloved source material. YMMV.

Have you been reading Bujold's World of the Five Gods/Penric novellas? Every time she puts out a new one it makes my week!

Econopodder was urging me to give Good Omens a deeper go. Intrikate also loves it. So, maybe. The Expanse is another adaptation that does very well -- I love both TV and books, and they really enhance one another.

And Bujold, oh 5 gods yes. I LOVE Curse of Chalion and Paladin of Souls is one of my favorite books of adulthood. I immensely enjoy the Penric novels and I know there's a new one out! Bujold is having so much fun with them. And so am I. Though I've not read Flowers of Vashnoi and I really need to get on that. Bujold has tremendously influenced my fic over the last 10 years.
