caramelsilver ran one last year on Livejournal and I did two over here a few years ago. We'll keep it open until January 31, 2019 which should give everyone time to play a little. This is a delightful part of the online fandom community.


What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.  So, for example,

Star Wars, Obi-Wan Kenobi, I don't like sand."

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt are allowed and even encouraged!  (We get really fun stories going this way).

Can I still post if I need more than 3 sentences?  Or should I just abuse grammar in ways the English language never contemplated?

Yes, please.  I'd love to create a nifty banner with an embed code but I fail at it.  So if you create one, I'll post it and everyone can use it.

How long will it go?
Tentatively, we'll close it on January 31, 2019. 

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes and could be helpful for Yuletide bears, too.

What about spoilers, content warnings, triggers, pairings, ratings, tags, and squick?
I thought about this.  It wasn't an issue the last 2 times I ran this but times change.  In my experience, this typically gets too big, moves too fast, and the stories are too short for content warnings and ratings. You should assume spoilers are fair game and that the initial poster and responder have opted to use no content warnings or tags. I've found personally that I can skim by stuff that, from the prompt, I can tell isn't my favorite flavor of delicious cake. Use your best judgment and be prepared to skip over things that aren't your thing.

Yep, that’s Caleb for you – always up for a bet, and ultimately hopeful. And how much do I love the fact that the price of magic, in this instance, is strategic planning meetings and boardroom proposals? That’s so true to canon. :D

Aaaaaah, WV! I love this so much – It’s wistful and tentative and optimistic all at once, and just spot-on in terms of character, and I love that it ends with the thought that Wayward Vagabond is who his experiences have made him, and not just something he’s been forced into by circumstance.

Crozier thinks they are alone, stalked and hunted only by what lives on the ice, but half-crushed as you are, your legs stretching towards the sea below, you know with certainty that that is not true: you are not the first, and you will not be the last, to call this place your grave.

(Okay, this got a little longer than some of my others, but I figured you wouldn't mind too much...)

Peter stares despondently at the Interpol warrants littering the table. Half the countries in Europe and three in South America—what the hell is Neal doing? And who the hell are all these women who keep popping up in the warrants? Peter's never even heard of Annie Kroy.

A drink slides across the table, and Peter looks up to see a dark-haired man standing there with a wry smile and a glass of whiskey twice as full as the glass by Peter.

"Sorry," the man says. "We had to borrow him for a bit. She'll have him back to you in one piece, I promise. Mostly."

"She?" Peter repeats.

"Sophie."

"Sophie?" There's no mention of a Sophie in any of the—wait. "Sophie Devereaux? You can't be serious. She's got warrants in every country in Europe."

The man snorts and raises his glass. "That's never stopped her before."

"And who the hell are you?" Peter asks.

The man cracks a smile and gives Peter a salute on his way out the door. "Just another thief."

It had taken six years, three full-time professors, four part-time assistants, endless pots of coffee, probably a little too much alcohol, and enough delivery food to feed a small planet. And in the end, it was all for a science-fiction novel. For years after the final translation, the Kirk manuscripts would be debated fiercely; where they a great find or a great disappointment?

Oh, man, I really like this. <3

The only thing he knows, the only thing he feels absolutely certain about down to the very marrow of his bones, is that even if he can't trust himself, he can trust Kotetsu with anything. With everything.

And Barnaby has absolutely no idea how to handle that.

This is great, but aw, Barnaby. Not a fun place to be in, poor guy.

Ooh, very nicely done. I haven’t seen this show, but I know enough about it to know what happened to the Hales, and it is definitely in need of a time-travel fix-it. I love his determination here (and the implication that he might have attempted this before, and failed, which is chilling).

Barnaby has made it through every person on the base except for one: a Japanese man more than ten years older than him whose simulator scores are only barely passing. Why they're even letting him try out at all is beyond Barnaby; if he wasn't compatible with anybody else, how in the hell would he be compatible with this guy?

Nobody's more surprised than he is when it turns out they are, and Mako assigns them to the same Jaeger.

He glares at his staff, at the old man, and then at Mako, before he drops his weapon to the ground and stalks away, silently furious.
