The 2015 Three Sentence Ficathon is now CLOSED, with over 4,100 prompts, fills, and comments. It's been a great exchange and thank you so much for the whacky crackfic, the moving short fic, and the amazing cross-overs. You all are great. I won't freeze this -- go ahead and continue to fill any prompts that interest you and comment on fills made. I just ask that there not be any more NEW prompts.

It's been 2 years, so why not?!!

Caramelsilver ran one in December on Live Journal but I was too busy to play. There are lots of outstanding prompts over there, so do go and check it out!! Here's the link! What is the 3 Sentence Ficathon?
This is a challenge where you answer a prompt with a fic consisting of only three sentences. It's open to all fandoms and you can post and answer as many prompts as you like, as many times as you want.

What do I do first?
You post prompts! When posting a prompt please format it this way:

fandom, character(s), prompt word/sentence.

Only one prompt per comment please.

What else?
You answer other posters' prompts in three sentences (or more if you can't stop yourself) and fill as many prompts as you want, as many times as you wish. If you see that a prompt you loved has already been filled, go ahead and fill it again! Multiple fills of the same prompt allowed and even encouraged!

How long will it go?
I'm closing it on Sunday, March 8, 2015. (Last time, we reached 5,000 comments and I had to start a new one before the ficathon concluded. If that happens, I'll start a new post).

Are there any rules about cross-posting?
Nope, you can post wherever you want, whenever you want. A lot of folks collected their responses together and posted them on AO3 under the 3 sentence fiction tag. 3SFs are a terrific prompt for remixes.

MCU/Avengers/Winter Soldier, Steve Rogers/Natasha Romanoff, 20 questions

It's a childish game, a foolish distraction, but that's exactly what they need tonight when they're both cold and bruised, worn thin from too much travel and not enough answers, no closer to finding Steve's friend or Natasha's past than they were when their worlds fell apart.

"Is it something living?" Steve asks as he bandages her twisted ankle, his hands gentle despite their size and the blood beneath his nails.

Natasha holds her chosen thought -- you, naked, in my bed -- behind her eyes and teeth where it will roughen her voice and heat her gaze, and tells him, "Yes."

FLAIL. THIS IS AMAZING. Oh my gosh, Liz, you hit it out of the park and into the next galaxy on this one. I LOVE it.

(Tangentially, I did a little research to see if Steve would be familiar with the game, and was fascinated to learn that Twenty Questions apparently dates back to the mid-19th century, which means he probably knew it growing up though he froze a few years too soon to catch the wildly popular Twenty Questions radio show that started in 1949. I'm not sure whether Natasha learned it naturally as a child or as part of her spy training.)

Steve is so squeaky clean and innocent, I wonder if he has any inkling of what Natasha has in mind...and how many questions it will take for him to get there.

I dunno about squeaky-clean and innocent, really -- I mean, Steve DID grow up in a big city, tour with showgirls for months on end, and serve in the army for at least a year, and he can be awfully snarky underneath his courtesy. But yeah, he doesn't seem to think of himself as a person other people might desire sexually and/or romantically, so I doubt he'll guess Natasha's intentions without the full twenty questions and a direct physical advance on her part. :-)

Okay, not innocent, but I think still squeaky-clean....

Here's some more dialog.

"Is it an animal?" he asked.

"Yes."

"Is it a mammal?"

"Mmm...yes."

"Good, that narrows it down. Is it a large mammal?"

"Define large."

"I don't know, bigger than a dog."

"What kind of dog?"

"Hey, who's asking the questions, here?"

"You are, but they need to be precise enough for me to answer them."

He sighed. "This could take all night."

"That's a thought."

Ha! Yes, Steve, do try to be more specific. :-)
