Thanks so much, Syrena! Yes, I saw that about the reveal of the Kaytn files as well. I don't think they shade anything that new -- certainly my own research had indicated it was very well known in certain circles that the Soviets were to blame, not the Nazis. There were attempts by the Soviets even to get it included in Nuremberg indictments and the reaction was pretty much, as I recall, you are on your own. In the 50s, there was at least one US congressional inquiry.
And Garbo! Yes, I have read about him and his exploits!
And as for Jalur and waving good bye with tail up. First my sincere condolences on the loss of your grandfather. I hope that it was peaceful, anticipated but not painfully lingering and in the end the celebration of a life well-lived. I wrote the long coda in TQSiT of mourning rituals because, at my age, I've been through many, many of them -- the old and the young, the tragic and the sweet. Some find these rituals too painful and others find them a comfort and so I am glad you found something easing in what was written here.
And I've been thinking way too much about how Edmund the Cub would go about choosing his own guard. I've begun to develop a characteristic which is very, very strong in me and so many other internet-savvy women of extreme information seeking behavior. I think the Cub will become more decisive than I am -- he would have to be, but I t hink he's one of those sorts who gathers lots of facts. This means there will be INTERVIEWS in which he very seriously interviews Hedgehogs and Rabbits as well as big Cats and Canines.
