Meme time!

I am going to see Avengers again!  [livejournal.com profile] knitress and [livejournal.com profile] econopodder are Avengers virgins so I'm excited and we WILL stay to the Very Last Scene.  You know the one, which I've so wanted to write but I figure there's more Shwarma fic at this point than Steve/Tony first time fic.  Also I've been to Budapest!

There's been some interesting meta going about readers, writers, reviewers, entitlement, and concrit in [info]lady_songsmith 's journal on Fandom Economy.

Anyway, then [livejournal.com profile] edenfalling presented this meme so tag, you're it!

1. Pick a pairing or a character
2. Ask me my particular headcanon regarding something about them
3. Post to your journal to share your own headcanon!

(And if you want to include OCs from fic and such, bring it on!)

The Pevensies first kisses, either in Narnia or England. Thanks!

Oh gosh... I'm going to have to think about that one. And you didn't specify human, or whether or not it was romantic/sexual. Can I just say, "Mum" and leave it at that?

Probably not.

And it's LOVELY to see you!

Oh gosh. OK, going out on a limb here.
We know Peter’s first kissing of the non-familial variety. I wrote it in I love not man the less – the satyr and the dryad. He’s anxious to repeat the experience with a human female partner and that doesn’t go so well. Wrasse and Dalia have to step in to save him from a couple of rotten situations and ugly, false accusations, which ultimately lead to the Guard being present at all times and the beginning of Edmund’s courtship agreements.

Susan proceeds very, very cautiously and shyly, and her partners, female (Beech) first, then male (also Beech), are Dryads and those happen very very slowly over a period of weeks during a Revel and a spring Dryad Dance in the two years after Peter’s Revel. Like Peter, she also has a very negative experience with a male suitor-seducer who seeks the Narnia crown through her, though Lambert and Wrasse keep it from going too far. Susan rebuffs many, many advances but Rafe Linch is her first human male partner.

Poor Edmund. Given that he's been negotiating Peter and Susan through their travails, Edmund is very distrusting of the whole thing and most of the feminine attention goes to Peter anyway. Edmund is thrilled to finally go out with Peter for a Dryad Dance (on a night when Susan isn’t). He gets in a few kisses with a female Birch and the pollen makes him so sick, he has to stagger home and stay in bed for two days. Disgruntled about the whole thing, he sets sail for Galma to get away, and that’s when things get interesting. (I blame [livejournal.com profile] h_dash_h for this one) Edmund spends time with the diplomatic counsul to Galma from Archenland, a very gracious man, widower, with two young children and one thing leads to another and it all goes very well. They part amicably a few weeks later.

Shhh! It’s a secret but… Lucy put no thought or worry into at all. She goes off every year to a Woodend Festival in the Western Wild and it happens then, one year, spontaneously, but when she is ready and it is lovely and perfect. She never tells anyone except Aidan, years later, but Lucy is almost positive it was Bacchus who appeared to her and first kissed her very passionately in a bower of grape leaves during the festival.

Poor Peter! He really does have a difficult time in this area. I LOVE your headcanon for Susan. Somehow that seems so fitting, and it explains so much of the tenderness between her and Rafe Linch.

You and I talked a little about that headcanon for Edmund at some point. I find it so interesting.

Lucy! Lucy's story is PERFECT. So, so perfect. I love it. :)

Yes, I've been AWOL. My four year old + a glass of water + my laptop = no PC.

I loved the fist kiss scenarios. I suspected Bacchus would be in there somewhere, for either Ed or Lu.

:-D
I love it all, very true to their characters (and of course I love this idea of Edmund and the diplomatic counsul- and it works so well because he sounds like the kind of person Edmund would enjoy spending time with).

And of course Lucy doesn't put any thought or worry into it, and that's why it goes so well. Well, that and the fact that for Lucy not putting thought into it has nothing to do with poor judgement and everything to do with not overthinking things. That's Edmund's department.

Heh. I'm glad you liked the head canon for Edmund. You can write it.

As for Lucy, I was a bit too casual in the wording (which I would change but LJ won't let me edit) and there might be an implication that she was foolish about it, which of course she wasn't. She has good judgment, but she was not anxious about when and how. When the time was right to kiss a partner in a bower of grape leaves, the time was right and she was ready. She did not overthink it as you say, which is exactly the right phrasing.

Hah! Brilliant!

I like that Rafe Linch is Susan's first human partner. Very fitting.
