Seriously, I think Rilian had a wonderful childhood and then the Lady of the Green Kirtle takes him and uses him for ten years in the most unspeakable and terrible of ways and no, I really don't think that sort of trauma is something anyone would recover from. Certainly not easily. Her use of him is really, REALLY dark, really as evil as anything in the series, and I just cannot seem him ever recovering from it without the sort of aid that would not be available to him. It's tragic, but unfortunately, I think likely.
