You can stop laughing now

As if there were any doubt in MY life, God is watching, She knows EXACTLY what I'm working on for the Narnia Fic Exchange (going there), She's got quite the sense of humor and yes, I'm feeling a divine poke in the ribs and laughter at my expense.  Of all the Books, in all the world, why did it have to be Isaiah 66:10-14 that I must proclaim to the assembly this afternoon?  Thank you God, you (and everyone else) may stop laughing now.

Jerusalem may be rejoicing at the sucking fully of the milk of her comfort, delighting in her abundant breasts, fondling in her lap.  I, however, am not.  I am laughing yes, of the self-deprecating variety, but rejoicing, not so much. (And yes, I know it's all imagery of mother and babe and it is lovely imagery indeed.  But, like the rhythm method, timing is everything and regardless the Prophet Isaiah is a bit over the top with all that joyous sucking and fondling.

My spousal unit and children, who do not know of the irony of said reading in light of what I am writing for the fic exchange, just think it is hilarious that I'll be up there proclaiming abundant breasts to a couple hundred people (say it fast with me friends).  This is when I wish for Fr. H., my old confessor.  He would have given me a wink, a swig of unconsecrated wine before Mass, and an internet link about Dorothy Day, feminine imagery in religious text,  or the shady ladies of the OT.

Edited:  I just looked at the New Testament reading, and it's Galatians 6:14-18 in which Paul addresses the issue of circumcision of adult male Jews in the early Christian church -- which of course Edmund and Richard Russell address in chapters 4 and 5 of Part 1.

The spousal unit is suggesting I wear a push up bra and is immensely enjoying the Catholic sex-fest.  But then, he is a Franciscan.
