the shrine is both a symbol and a landmark! that really is the whole thesis, i'm glad you let that sentence stand on its own, and it speaks to how so many things in this game (and on this island) operate on multiple levels. it's the act of destruction, and the witches who have seen the board know what that means, why shannon needs that assurance of destruction, more than just as a ritual for restoring the witch's power. and oh that whole last sentence is so beautiful, too, and that ending.
