"Wisdom is only achieved through careful and diligent study, with as many of the words of the philosophers, kings, and other worthies available so that the understanding gained may be was complete as possible," Athena said, closing the book she had in her hands for emphasis.

"We both know humans, though, Athena," Hermes replied, "and we know they don't have the patience to go digging through every bit of information available to them to find the wise answer when there's a quick answer available to them."

Neither Hermes nor Athena could be moved from their position, so libraries came to be seen as a place where wisdom can be found quickly, a reputation the librarians are always very careful to only curse the patrons for.
