Gen in this AU is much sadder, and Irene more uninhibited, so that I imagine they'd actually meet in the middle wrt levels of angst/dysfunction as opposed to canon *shrugs*.
(I miss Helen, too! I wish there were a way that the premise didn't demand her death :/)
