Disgusted by the hypocrisy of the Jedi Order and the corruption of the Galactic Senate, Dooku uses the considerable resources of the former to trace the root of the latter to one man: Senator Sheev Palpatine, formerly an art collector.

He has long wondered what he might have been if not a Jedi, and though he cannot change his own past, he will change his future by taking art history into his own hands. As Docent Tyrannus he finds Palpatine before Darth Plagueis can get to him, recognizing the value of pieces that other curators have passed off as worthless trash and fostering a desire to look at *everything* from a different perspective.
