Hamlet knows what Iago is doing, knows he was kidding himself from the beginning to think what they had could ever be sweet, and it’s always been about control for him. Joke’s on him, though, because Hamlet wants to be used, deserves to have his face smeared into the floor, and knows just how to turn his sobs musical enough to keep Iago coming back.
