The hints of Michel in the first book, the way we are convinced he would never turn traitor, and the fact that Phillipe was his kids' goodfather, suggesting a more intimate friendship...(also, I never thought of the Anne/Dante echo and I LOVE how much that complicates and darkens things even more!!)
