Miss Marple took out her knitting and began to slowly work on the sleeve. To the uninitiated she was simply an old lady occupying her time before supper, but to those who knew her well she was using that time to listen to a conversation between two people sitting close to her in the hotel lounge. After a while, the two departed, leaving Miss Marple to put her knitting safely in her bag and go to make a telephone call to the nice detective inspector she had been talking with earlier.
