It is tempting to just give up on the roulette and become a heartless doll once more – not easy, because nothing in Yasuda’s life is easy, but when the alternative to a life of unbearable pain is a few days of carnage where the best possible outcome is someone figuring them out before there are too many bodies and forcing them to confess everything that brought them to this point, then carrying on as they always have can sometimes seem preferable.
That’s not the only outcome, actually, because there is a world, there has to be, where they were loved enough as an infant to be raised as an heir, and it is for the sake of that future they might have had if the world were kinder, that they keep climbing the cruel unscalable cliff of probability.
And for their sake, Lion lives with all their might, knowing that they are the one Yasuda believed in right at the end, more than anything else.
