Reynaldo looks down at Laertes on his knees, careful to take in everything from the graceful curve of his neck to the softness of his eyelashes to the hands clasped dutifully behind his back, and he thinks, not for the first time, “I would marry you.” He wouldn’t ask, he’d never put that decision on Laertes or force him to change their arrangement when both of them are happy with what they have, but if Laertes wanted to spend a life together he would do it with no hesitation because he’s already thought about it and come to the conclusion that any consequences are worth the kind of life it would be.
