This is wonderful -- I love how the complete blankness of the surrounding world makes it feel like it doesn't matter when or where they are, because it's always like this, the same recognition and suspicion and invitation, and the particular context is irrelevant. It really emphasizes the endlessly recurring nature of the relationship.

(Aaand it occurs to me that I should really get myself a less critical-looking Javert icon. XD )
