The Guardian collapses in pieces, the Malice that had animated it burnt to ash, and Zelda stands amazed, her hand still outstretched. From her back six wings flare outstretched, glowing gold, the mark of a goddess.
There is a soft thud behind her and Zelda is Zelda again, rushing to gather Link to her breast and shield him with all of her wings, begging him not to die. If the breaking of those soft tawny wings are the sacrifice required to awaken her golden ones, Zelda thinks both now and later - it will never be a sacrifice worth making.
