(because the one thing that could piss Revali off about Link more than canon is if Link actually could fly)
The Rito look on the Hylians with something like fond condescension: sure, they're light enough that they don't have to jump off a cliff to get airborne, but they're just so small, the dears, can't get to a decent height and get buffeted about by every strong wind.
Revali has always thought that attitude rather shortsighted, so much so that Revali's Gale was first conceived as a way to overcome that Rito disadvantage. Of course when Princess Zelda had come calling he'd presented it as a tribute to Hylian aerial ability.
"How clever!" the Princess had exclaimed, and her delight was genuine to all appearances. "Perhaps a demonstration, if you don't mind, Master Revali?"
"Your Highness, it would be my honor," Revali had replied.
And he had given his demonstration, and of course he was Very Impressive Indeed, and the display had cemented his place as Champion and pilot of Vah Medoh. It was not, however, sufficient to propel him to the head of the flight, and having to follow the tailfeathers of a mere knight rather took the shine off it all.
"All because you happen to have that little darkness-sealing sword on your back. I mean, it's just...asinine. ...Unless... you think you can prove me wrong? Maybe we should just settle this one on one? But where...? Oh, I know! How about up there?!"
But of course Link couldn't get up to Vah Medoh on his own, with his sharp little wings made for darting instead of soaring. Revali summons his Gale and launches himself skyward, turns to shout one last taunt - and finds himself at eye level with the little upstart, Link having ridden Revali's Gale to follow him!
The utter NERVE!
He has to do some fancy flying to lose Link - a bit belatedly, he does realize he doesn't want to jeopardize his position by brawling with a fellow Champion, however annoying this Champion is - but eventually Link gives up, and Revali finds himself sitting on Medoh's back alone, not happy to have to face the fact that he'd fallen prey to the same prejudices that his peers cling to. Smaller and weaker they may be, but they're still wingfolk and not to be underestimated.
Revali contents himself with the thought that Princess Zelda seems no happier about the presence of the sword-bearing boy than he is. Not that he can blame her - poor, wingless thing that she is, Link must annoy her even more than he annoys Revali.
