Ed doesn’t know what there is to envy in a little sister, a boring mewling thing, but the fascination remains. Lucy is a rival and a friend and a person to protect, and an ideal to aspire to, and she doesn’t even seem to know that she is half these things, which just isn’t fair!

Why do they all believe any silly little thing that comes out of Lucy’s mouth, but when Edlyn says the only truth that matters they ruffle her hair and say of course that can’t be her real name?
