Narnia, Lucy

The lands to the west of Narnia, where the sun set, rolled on over the hills as Lucy rode, always up the Great River, always with the afternoon sun in her eyes and her near-empty cordial at her hip. There were fewer and fewer inhabitants, until the day she made her way carefully up the cliffs of a waterfall and found herself alone -- and yet not alone, for in front of her was a great, walled garden with high, golden gates. "I am Queen Lucy of Narnia, come questing to the western end of the world. Will you see me?" she asked.

Soundlessly, the great gates opened, and from inside came a most delicious warm and golden smell, like high summer, and a voice said, "Welcome, dear heart."
