I could swear it all stems to one particular fic way back in ye olden days, because I've seen him also written as coming from the Lone Islands, being an artist, and being half Carolmene before in three or four different fics. Hell, even I've caught myself doing similar things and wondering why so many of us keep going back to that characterization.
