It happens so often that Chen Guo gives up and buys a bunch of extra pillows and blankets to go in the training room; she can't stand seeing them all trying to keep warm using their jackets, and she is fed up of having to keep cleaning the cushions from the sofa downstairs.

She considered, for a short while, buying some folding cots to keep there, but she soon realised that none of them would actually use them; if they can't fit at least three of them curled up together in one place, they wouldn't bother.

She stands in the doorway watching them sleep, arms and legs sprawled across each other, and she knows she should be telling them all to take better care of themselves and sleep in proper beds, but she can't help but smile, filled with pride and love in a family she never expected to have.
