Honestly, it does sting a bit, but between magic, aliens, millions of tragic points in time, and three really irritating teenagers, any oaths he’d taken seem lifetimes away - and he dislikes being reminded of it enough to ignore the hurt in the kid’s face, the way he’s had to ignore so much else to do the things no one else can.
