“Captain Burnham, I understand the enthusiasm that your crew has for scientific exploration,” Admiral Vance paced back and forth behind his desk. “I would hope, however, that they would do their best not to let those things get out of control.” He gazed at Tilly and shook his head. “And you, Ensign Tilly, as acting First Officer I would expect you to have better judgement.”
Tilly broke in with, “Mistakes were made, Admiral! But that’s science for you.” Michael put her head down and hoped that Vance couldn’t see her smile.
