Humans have soulmates and vampires do not; it is a simple fact of the world and one of the reasons Alucard was not surprised to find he lacked a soulmark—he had so many other vampire characteristics that it was no wonder he'd inherited that one as well.

His mother had assured him that was no barrier to finding love, but Alucard had been uncertain as to whether that would actually be the case; after all, what human would want to give up their soulmate for him?
