Henry giggled. They couldn't help it! She was just so earnest with desperation when calling them - calling them - !
"What?" their guest asked, still afraid, but with an iron streak, "Please, isn't that what you are?"
"A witch!" Henry chortled. Really, they did go to magic school, even if it was less a typical institute of learning and more like a meat grinder.
"W-well, you have strange magic, and can talk to animals, and there's bones and horrible things in jars, and... was I wrong?"
Seemed like she didn't know about dark mages, or at least wasn't familiar enough to recognize one. Ylisse didn't have as many as Plegia, where most towns had at least one to serve the community alongside the doctor, midwife, and so on. Honestly their earlier thought about being a witch in a mountain cabin had been a joke, like deciding to be a hermit.
"No, no, it's just... People aren't usually bold enough to call me that to my face!"
That worked: she said up straighter as her fear abated, mollified to have been correct instead of insulting.
"So, about your problem, I've got the loveliest little charm that'll fix it a treat!"
Witch... Henry really liked the sound of that. About time they got a job upgrade!
