Modern Greek Myth // Persephone // stars in her eyes, flowers in her hair

There once was a girl who danced in meadows, who sang out to the birds, who helped the flowers grow. She was young, she was beautiful, she was a maiden who smiled like the sun and had the eyes of glittering stars.

That girl, long ago, grew into a woman.

That woman, who bloomed into a queen, grew again, but in the way, you think. Not in that way at all.

She wanders, lost and curious about where she came from, who she'd been. A girl again, hands shoved into jeans, a hood pulled over her head. It's raining as she walks but she doesn't see the growing things behind her and she doesn't hear the ghosts calling her home to the Underside of the world.

She just sees a man with open arms and dark eyes, she sees the recognition in his eyes, even though they barely know one another. She doesn't know all the things out there waiting for her, but she knows, somewhere inside her, waits for a woman with stars in her eyes and flowers in her hair.
