One of Head McGonagall's best reforms was to make Magical Anthropology a required course and to attach a fieldwork requirement to it. While plenty of students came back with a greater appreciation of the magic and the world that allowed them to use it, some became enamored of the world outside, for whatever reason, and made plans to live without as much of the magic as they could stand.
