i'm down for musing about the nature of ohtori any day of the week, believe me! i like the idea of it as a fairy world, and that fairy world is also middle school, and the memories of middle school tend to blur at the edges except for the intense, emotional moments that really mattered to you. the larger narrative shifts around those moments to make sense of them. (she remembers akio, remembers being wronged by him, remembers having to leave. and he really was a creepy administrator who kept perving on her.)
