runespoor: 8-year old bruce looking creepily calm, with the quote "what makes you think I was alone". (the lesson is always canon)

Fill: Dragon Age, Varric Tethras x2 (+Cassandra)

“See, that’s a false dichotomy,” Varric points out; “who says it’s got to be all of one and none of the other, only bad critics – well, and the Seeker, and she’s got her reasons. That’s where craft comes in: you take anything, really, something as random and meaningless as Hawke getting out for lunch, and you cut and polish it until it sings – maybe on the exact day I’m telling you about Hawke didn’t get attacked by two possessed Wardens on the way down for breakfast, but it’s been known to happen, and now you know Hawke’s the kind to get attacked on the way down for breakfast; maybe Aveline didn’t resort to embarrassingly outdated courting traditions to tell a guy she liked him, but you’ll remember the hyperbole and you’ll remember Aveline’s awkward earnestness; and people definitely change clothes every once in a while, but Anders’ mangy robes, Isabela’s outfit, they’re as iconic as Bianca. It’s a writer’s job to make you see the core of things, people, things that happened, and that includes making stuff up – telling lies to show the truth.”

“Of course I lied! I’m a liar, Seeker, that's my entire job – hi, Varric Tethras, prone to extravagant lies – and I was protecting my friend!”

“Do not think I will forgive you for this, Varric: I won’t,” Cassandra says, each word falling like the slash of a sword, and turns away, steel still flashing in her eyes.
