She'd never thought it would be this way; Caroline had known that Bonnie and Matt and Jeremy would grow older, would eventually die, while she remained the same, but she'd always thought she'd have Elena, and Stefan, and Tyler, and even Damon and the Prince of Darkness himself Klaus.

Yet now Caroline is the last one, some of her friends returned to their human state, all of them now at peace.

She thinks of them now as she prefers to remember them, girly sleepovers with Elena and Bonnie, watching Matt and Tyler playing football, and knows that however long she lives she will always hold on to these memories.
