“There are stars in your eyes,” he murmured and Mia snorted into her champagne. “That’s from the lights on our Charlie Brown Christmas tree,” she laughed, “all eight of them. Next year I pick out the tree and I string the lights.” And Sebastian’s heart swelled, because he already couldn’t wait for next year, yet the same time he wasn’t ready for this one to end. He should tell her that, he knew. “It’s not such a bad little tree,” he quoted instead. Mia rolled her eyes even as she snuggled into his shoulder. “Good thing you had enough ornaments to fill all the holes in the branches.” And he wasn’t going to think about whether that was a metaphor for their relationship, or how the radio was mangling the Vince Guiraldi Trio’s music. He was going to continue delivering corny lines until Mia either burst out laughing or kissed him to make him shut up. After all, wasn’t that what Christmas was all about?
Belated Merry Christmas
“That’s from the lights on our Charlie Brown Christmas tree,” she laughed, “all eight of them. Next year I pick out the tree and I string the lights.”
And Sebastian’s heart swelled, because he already couldn’t wait for next year, yet the same time he wasn’t ready for this one to end. He should tell her that, he knew. “It’s not such a bad little tree,” he quoted instead.
Mia rolled her eyes even as she snuggled into his shoulder. “Good thing you had enough ornaments to fill all the holes in the branches.”
And he wasn’t going to think about whether that was a metaphor for their relationship, or how the radio was mangling the Vince Guiraldi Trio’s music. He was going to continue delivering corny lines until Mia either burst out laughing or kissed him to make him shut up. After all, wasn’t that what Christmas was all about?
