Oh god; that's...that's a very convincing angle. Also, really like both the depth of care revealed here and the 'faithless Anne' epithet ("even further from his reach" ow ow ow.)

And that last line is just elegantly turned, and also really fun in having 'make excuses no longer' and his hopes of 'fairer faces to turn his stubborn heart' - there was more to Anne than just a fair face, which is why he's spent so many years with her still the steady reference star of all his constellations.

I just read Persuasion for the first time last month, and this fill is a gift that's making me want to go reread it for Frederick's POV between the lines.
