She'll allow him this much: he never did lie to her.

Instead he said, lovely one, my life rests in your fine hands and swore men would curse my name if I did not take you with me, pretty princess and never anything more binding: his words made her blush and brightened her eyes and now, on Naxos, they catch in her teeth like curses.

Dionysus never pays her so much as a compliment, never makes promises she might never believe, but when her spirit is dragged into Hades, away from him, she does not doubt him.
