Later Anne couldn´t say where she lost her gloves (not that it suprised Marilla, still she hoped for some sense), and she hardly noticed the pain as Marilla graps her hands and starts rubbing life back into them.
Annes eyes shine, while she talks about the songs they sung abd stars and snow catched in Dianas raven black hair "Do you think, Marilla, that I too, could one day have this, and not be forever burdend with this carotte red, for christmas at least, or would that be a horrible thing to wish for?" till she falls silent. Walking with Diana Anne had felt light enough to fly away but now her body is heavy with sleep, and her eyes fall shut without saying her prayers - Marilla let her.
