He hasn't chosen to partake in a century or two, but standing beside Duncan MacLeod in all his righteous and self-righteous glory, Methos has the chance to reflect on it again; there's rather a nice view from the moral high ground. Still (and a bit of him wonders if it's the fact that he's looking that means that now is the time when Duncan's centuries of shining reputation crack), the higher the ground, the farther the fall. At that point, all that's left is to enjoy the ride.
