So, Remix reveals are up!! I got three amazing stories from 3 of my favorite writers, WingedFlight, [personal profile] edenfalling , and [personal profile] syrena_of_the_lake

For the main exchange, Winged gave me the hilarious remix of the llamas on the lam.  Winged is so wry and clever and she just nails this story.

Alpaca Bag (the wayward llamas remix) (1055 words) by WingedFlight
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis
Rating: General Audiences
Warnings: Creator Chose Not To Use Archive Warnings
Characters: Susan Pevensie, Flax and Shadow
Additional Tags: llamas on the run, run llamas run
Summary:

Come now Gentle Beasts and Birds, Sons of Adam and Daughters of Eve, that might you hear the Tale of the Wayward Llamas. Stop and listen that you may also know of Flax the Brave and her mate Shadow, and how a Wrong Turn led to the Rescue of a Queen. Harken to me now.

And for remix madness,

Follow the Story (One Queen, Bearing Gifts) (1826 words) by Elizabeth Culmer

Summary:On Ramandu's island, Lucy and the Star's daughter speak of stories, choices, and new beginnings.

This is gorgeous.  I love how Liz gives the Star's daughter so much agency in her journey and choices.  It's lovely.

And then Syrena wrote a veritable tear-jerker with Jalur and the Cub.

Tiger burning bright (The "Acceptance of the Terms" Remix) (772 words) by Syrena_of_the_lake

Fandom: Chronicles of Narnia - All Media Types

I wrote 2 stories and Adaese guessed the first one and so she gets a ficlet!!! So let me know what you would like!!

The Peculiar Case Of The Man With The Missing Soul (the Turn! Turn! Turn! remix) (8651 words) by rthstewart
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Elementary (TV), Chalion Saga - Lois McMaster Bujold
Rating: General Audiences

Characters: Joan Watson (Elementary), Sherlock Holmes, Ms. Hudson (Elementary)
Additional Tags: Crossovers & Fandom Fusions, Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Alternate Universe - Modern with Magic, The Bastard - Freeform, Case Fic, Character of Faith, Canon Trans Character
Summary:At first, Curtis Atherton's death appeared a simple suicide. Of course, nothing is simple when the Bastard is involved.  Sherlock Holmes, Doctor Joan Watson, and Ms. Hudson, Acolyte of the Bastard, are on the case.

I loved writing this story and really appreciated [personal profile] heliopausa for her help and her and Metonomia's beta assistance. It was a case fic, and long, which made it hard but the story, originally written for me at Yuletide, begged for expansion.

The second story was for the Lizzie Bennett Diaries and my thanks to [personal profile] syrena_of_the_lake  for the beta assistance. My recipient really liked it and I really enjoyed trying to write Darcy during the Netherfield arc. He's a fundamentally decent person but also an arrogant jerk so it was a challenge to balance the two.

clouds in my coffee (the diamond in the rough is looking so sparkly remix) (2296 words) by rthstewart
Chapters: 1/1
Fandom: Lizzie Bennet Diaries
Rating: Teen And Up Audiences
Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply
Relationships: Lizzie Bennet/William Darcy
Characters: Lizzie Bennet, William Darcy, Bing Lee, Caroline Lee, Jane Bennet
Additional Tags: Netherfield Arc
Summary:The thing about living with someone for an entire month who you are otherwise attempting to exorcise from your existence is that you learn all manner of things about her you could have gone your whole life without learning.

Elizabeth, having rather expected to affront him, was amazed at his gallantry; but there was a mixture of sweetness and archness in her manner which made it difficult for her to affront anybody; and Darcy had never been so bewitched by any woman as he was by her. He really believed, that were it not for the inferiority of her connections, he should be in some danger.
Pride and Prejudice, Chapter 10, by Jane Austen

You anons are amazing and wonderful and I thank you. I so wanted to get to do some remixes for you all but I'm in the midst of traveling and it wasn't to be. But wow, I've received, besides the wonderful llama story, a heartbreaking remix of Jalur's farewell and a gorgeous variation on my story of Lucy and the Star's daughter.  They are below.  Wow.  I'm so happy.  Thank you.

I do, btw,  have 2 stories up in the remix.  I'm a little bit... concerned about one of them.  Ah well.  No matter.  I have three glorious remixes and I'm delighted.

Gosh it's been awhile.

Remix madness has started!!! GO HERE. WRITE FUN THINGS BASED ON OTHER PEOPLE'S STORIES

I had 2 remix assignments and got both in on time, woot. Gosh, WHO WRITES 10,000 WORD REMIXES? ME OF COURSE. I'm an idiot. But you knew that. I'd love to get a madness in, I have an idea, but it may not happen -- we're off to Nova Scotia soon. cannot WAIT. I was so sad when the deadline closed because it once again appeared that the person assigned to me had defaulted -- omg I've got rthstewart, run like the wind.
But, a couple days later, a story did pop up so I'm VERY happy that someone did not run like the wind.

Work has been slow and boring and so taking forever to do and in my distraction, I managed to scrape up my car on a parking pylon garage pillar that leaped out at me. Grrr. Also, we may have to replace the car altogether so I got distracted looking at new cars and then got pissed off at car salesman. What about "only contact me by email" was unclear? Also, my spawn ran off to wilderness camp for a week without water bottles and I've been fretting about it.

I've seen Mad Max twice, LOVED IT. OMG GO SEE IT. I did not see Jurassic World though, of course, I love dinosaurs, because ehh. And I need to see the new Pixar movie, though I'm sure I'll cry through the whole thing. I saw the Rebels premiere and did enjoy it. I've not watched Orphan Black yet. I'm just tired of grimdark -- the world is such an awful horrible place from where I sit I look for true escapism from my Twitter feed and daily news. Why yes, hello depression, I've not missed you AT ALL. There was a fun article about the awesomeness of crows in WaPo here.

So, I plugged these earlier but I need to do so again. I received two remixes,

In the main exchange, [personal profile] snacky  wrote It's Hard Out There for a Princess (The Princess Peony Pavane) in which she tells the story of Princess Peony (Even More Dim) from By Royal Decree. I feel really badly for the difficulties that were obviously involved for the poor writers who got me as as an assignment for remix in the exchange.  I am all the more delighted that Snacky stepped up at the last minute.  She gave Peony the story she deserved. I told Snax in comments that I'd originally envisioned Peony in the Lone Islands and recognizing who Harold the Clerk is. She ended up becoming Constance Meryl. It's really made me want to return to that snippet and write it.  I love Snacky's work.

The Liz Culmer [personal profile] edenfalling  wrote Sword and Stake (Hath Yet Her Honor and Her Toil) a Buffy/Narnia xover in which Lucy is training Watchers. She's now written a second follow on here where Lucy the Not-Slayer kills her first vampire and has Words with the Council representative.  It's a great crack cross over and I always love Liz's work too.  I was really lucky she did these.

As for what I wrote, well, And all we need of hell (The "Sometimes it lasts in love but sometimes it hurts instead" Remix)
It's a Harry Potter post DH story.  I remixed a story in which ghost Snape continues a very unhealthy obsession for Harry and literally haunts Godric's Hollow.  I struggled for a while trying to do it from Ginny's pov.  Then, I hit on going into Snape's pov, and so we get the surprise of what Ginny does and how she pretty much kicks his ass from one end of Godric's Hollow to the other.  So, writing a scary, powerful, smart, PISSED Ginny Weasley, with a baby at her hip and a wand in her hand was FUN.

211 stories in the Remix Redux are up here and the Madness round is here.

Amazingly, I received two stories.  One of them, the main story, I think was a last minute pinch hit which makes what was delivered even more amazing, as my mystery author gives the better story that Princess Even More Dim from By Royal Decree deserves and that I denied her, It's Hard Out There for a Princess (The Princess Peony Pavane).

And then someone gave me an awesome madness story, in which Lucy is training Watchers, which was inspired by a 3SF, Sword and Stake (Hath Yet Her Honor and Her Toil).  There are some really good Narnia stories in the remix, including one for Winged, one for Snacky, and one for Elizabeth Culmer, including Vampire Caspian, Cassandra Susan (except they believe her) and a Jadis story.

So go forth and tell these mystery authors how amazing they are!

I wrote one story; I didn't have time to do the madness round, which is sad, because I've loved those stories in the past.

You can read the rules (there aren't many) and sign up here.  No qualifying fandoms, no minimum word count, you can remix anyone who signed up, which I will do and I hope you do too!

Also, yes, got my Remix in and wow that was something different.  New fandom, new pairing, new pov, never read the other author before.  But it's done!

REMIX IS LIVE! Sign ups run until next Sunday, March 30 with stories due on May 4.  More info here at [community profile] remixers_lounge

SO, you have time to post a bunch of shorts, get your 3 SFs up, and qualify in fandoms. (seriously get those 3SFs in -- it's amazing how quickly they can add up to a qualifying fandom and they are wonderful to remix because there is so much to play with and it's an easy read for your assigned remixer!)  I'm not sure I'll be able to offer anything other than Narnia -- I might have been able to squeeze out some Star Wars but it's not eligible this year, which is fine, of course.  There's lots of other things to chose from.  Also one to keep an eye on is [community profile] femmeremix  which looks like it will run after remix 11th Hour ends

Huge thanks to the mods for picking this up again.  it's just a great pan-fandom exchange and I'm excited about femmeremix too.

Two signal boosts!

The terrific pan-fandom Remix Redux 2014 will is on.  I am thrilled and so grateful to the admins for picking it up again.
And Halfamoon, 14 days of celebrating women is open as well, on LJ and DW  So go post your awesome ladies recs, content, and meta!  I have found some of my favorite fem-oriented vids there, so go forth and rec and link!  (I'll be adding some Narnia recs in a bit).

Remix reveals are up!!!
I am so lucky!! I ended up remixing the people who remixed me!!  [livejournal.com profile] snacky wrote this lovely follow on to Follow the Star and [livejournal.com profile] lotl101 wrote an alternate view of how Lucy and Asim might have met!  Go and tell them how wonderful they are!!

Thank you both so much for these wonderful stories!!

I wrote two, a Narnia/Silmarillion xover for Snacky here and a Doctor Who story for [livejournal.com profile] lotl101 about the OTP between Doctor 10 and his Converse trainers.

I made the mistake of looking at word count since November 1 -- AW chapters 10-15, Rat and Sword, and one chapter of H&M totals over 140,000 words in less than 6 months.  So, if I'm a little slow getting off the mark at the moment, I guess that's why.  But I've started writing and outlining again and actually wrote a few hundred words of H&M dialogue last night. What follows is some writing blather below with the offer to share any thinky thoughts you may have:
Blather about AW, H&M and request for thoughts if you feel like sharing! )

It's up!  It's up!  Remix Madness is here and it's all wonderful.  So many of the F-list got mixed!  There are lovely stories there!  Remix is such fun!

So huzzah for that!  And I got 2, yes TWO wonderful fics!!!
Follow the Star (Into the Light) which remixes my femme-slashy-if-you-squint Lucy & Liliandil fic and it's just wonderful to read of two grieving people who are able to come together honestly and openly and find a way through their mourning resolved to accomplish important things that must be done.
And Shadow and Light which is a lovely look at how Lucy and Asim meet in a way that is a bit less abrupt than falling on top of him and explores how Lucy's light shines into the shadows of Asim's darkness.

Both stories are wonderful meditations on Lucy as light.  She's brilliant in Shadow and Light and her absence casts a long shadow in Follow the Star Into the Light.  I've got two stories in there and I imagine the reveals will be up later in the week.

Remix Redux 10: X Hits the Spot went live!!  I'm really sorry I didn't participate this year, but between the Big Bang, the AW update, and travel, I knew I wasn't going to be able to get my act together.  And Remix Madness goes live tonight!  Someone remixed one of mine!!  SQUEEE!  There are 6, count em 6 stories in the Madness for Narnia and 3 in the Redux 10 which is a great showing for the fandom.

[livejournal.com profile] cofax7 pointed me in the direction of this yesterday, which I'd seen go by on The Mary Sue and then didn't follow up. The Lizzie Bennet Video Diaries.

It's being updated today!!! You can follow Darcy, Caroline, Jane, Lizzie, Bing Lee, Charlotte, and Lydia on Twitter! Tumblr! Facebook! It's so exciting! On Saturday night there was a wedding and now Bing and Jane are following each other on Twitter! So exciting! I think the best place to find the Twitter accounts is here.  As the Mary Sue says, the meta is irresistible.

FYI, I'm posting Rat and Sword Go To War on ff.net and AO3 where it's been really, really quiet. Oh well.  The feedback on AW 15 has been amazing and I'm thrilled and so grateful for that.

For first time readers, a glossary of terms for Rat and Sword and cast of characters is here (such as, what does RTU mean? and what's a Sten?)

Also, here's a map if you get confused about the geography (and boy did I get challenged on the east, west, right and left flank and I never did quite figure out exactly where the panzer divisions were).

Otherwise I'm puttering around with Remix Madness against my better judgement and really allergies have got me seriously wanting to cut my head off.  Anything exciting with you?

This is making me go all AWWWW but admittedly I've got a soft spot for yellow labs. Our current dog is a reject from an assistance dog program (and oh gosh, if you meet her, you know why).

So, the whopping (and I do mean whopping) Chapter 15 is up.  I thought of splitting it, but once you read it, I think you'll see why I didn't.  No historical notes, really.  It pretty much speaks for itself.

The first 4,000 words of Chapter 15 (with a notable exception in the first couple of paragraphs) repeats Chapter 1 of Rat and Sword Go To War.  Then, it goes off in a different direction.   I had really wanted to get this chapter up before Rat and Sword as they are so closely aligned and this is how I'd intended it -- the AW update first and then Rat and Sword.  I'll start posting Rat and Sword later in the week on ff.net so they can all be read together in one place.

I'll take this opportunity to signal boost the writers and artists of the Narnia Big Bang stories. They are wonderful and please check them out.  Every one is a wonderful, original contribution.  I've so enjoyed them all and tomorrow is the last one!  A huge thanks to [livejournal.com profile] snacky for running a wonderful Big Bang and to [livejournal.com profile] heverus for my beautiful art.

Also, REMIX.  I didn't do the official one, but [livejournal.com profile] musesfool has open season Remix Madness 2012!  Post if you are willing to have your stories Remixed and then pick a story from those who have signed up!  No word limit!  No assignments!  No pressure! (and if you've ever had the urge to fix anything I've done, HAVE AT IT).  I have signed up and I noticed that [livejournal.com profile] snacky [livejournal.com profile] edenfalling [livejournal.com profile] therck and [livejournal.com profile] vialethe have as well as others whose work I know and love.

Errr, right, signing off now and it's what you were expecting.  I think this fleshes out a lot of Rat and Sword, plus stands on its own.
